STERILISING FEEDING EQUIPMENT

• This can be done through cold water sterilising solution
• Steam sterilising
• Sterilising by boiling equipment

 

Follow the instructions given by the appropriate manufacturer for each of the above ways to sterilise equipment.

Always ensure your hands are washed well with soap and water prior to preparing your baby’s bottle.

Bottles used for expressed breast milk will also require the same cleaning procedure.

 

• Clean all bottles and teats in hot soapy water prior to sterilising
• Rinse the bottles and teats with clean cold water prior to sterilising

 

Dishwashers are ideal for cleaning feeding equipment but will not sterilise as the temperatures reached in a dishwasher do not reach a high enough temperature to sterilise
