SIX MONTHS
At around six months you can expect your child to be able to do the following:
Physical
- Can roll over from front to back
- Will take weight on legs when held and bounces
- Plays with feet when laying on back
- Sits upright when supported
Cognitive
- Passes toy from hand to hand
- Stares at toys and tries to reach out and grab them
- Forgets about a toy if hidden
Social and emotional
- Holds hands up to be lifted
- Will shake rattle deliberately
- Likes to look at himself/herself in a mirror
- Friendly to everyone (around seven months does not like strangers)
- Likes to play with adults
Speech and language
- Squeals and laughs
- Turns to familiar voices responds to own name
- Makes babbling sounds
- Responds to own name
- Makes babbling sounds
