SIX WEEKS
At around six weeks you can expect your child to be able to do the following:
Physical
- When on tummy will lift head for a short time
- Has grasp reflex- when stoke babies outstretched palm baby will grasp finger
- Will follow an object or person with both eyes
Cognitive
- Becoming more alert
- Eye to eye contact is deliberately maintained
- Sucks well
Social and emotional
- Smiles at about six weeks
- Startled by sudden noises
Speech and language
- Cries when hungry or uncomfortable
- Turns to voices
