- The HADS is a tool used to screen for anxiety and depression. It is similar to the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Screening (EPDS).
- It Is one questionnaire, comprising of fourteen questions
- Unlike the EPDS, the HADS will give a score for both depression and anxiety. This makes it easier for the screener to signpost the patient to the most appropriate agency
- The HADS tool can be used on any person, any age, gender, culture as long as they are Gillick competent
